Hello everyone who is joining us in this journey!

About 3 months ago we got a call from an individual who serves as a Baha'i counselor for certain parts of the U.S. He mentioned that there is a project that the Universal House of Justice--the governing body for the Baha'is all over the world--has started. The project is to help certain islands of the Caribbean in their Baha'i activities. We, among other Baha'i youth from the U.S. and Israel, were called to serve as pioneers for these islands and help the communities in their activities. We immediately consulted with our families and the next day called back to express our gratitude and willingness to serve to this capacity. We committed to pioneer for about 7 months (May to December).

Last night we spent the night at my parents house with another young couple who also were going. Andy and Cheryl and us, traveled this morning at 6am to Miami where we met up with other pioneers and a couselor.
Now we are in Trinidad!
We're here for a training which will last 10 days. Then we go to our assigned island.
We have to go to our hotel now, but we'll update soon.
much love!!!

Introduction to the Baha'i Faith

This service opportunity derived from our religion, the Bahá'í Faith. It would only be appropriate for us to give a brief explanation of this wonderful source.

The Bahá'í Faith is a world religion whose purpose is to unite all people and races in one universal Cause and one common Faith. As Bahá'ís, we are followers of Bahá'u'lláh who we believe is the Promised One of all Ages. Many traditions, cultures, and religions have a promise of a future when peace and harmony will be established on earth and humankind will live in prosperity. Well we believe that the promised hour has come and that Bahá'u'lláh will enable humanity to rebuild this world.

Bahá'u'lláh says:

"That which the Lord hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of all the world is the union of all its peoples in one universal Cause, one common Faith."

For a global society to flourish, Bahá'u'lláh said it must be based on certain fundamental principles.

They include:

* The elimination of all forms of prejudice
* Full equality between the sexes
* Recognition of the essential oneness of the world’s great religions
* The elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth
* Universal education; the harmony of science and religion
* A sustainable balance between nature and technology
* The establishment of a world federal system, based on collective security and the oneness of humanity.
